Ordination of New Deacons

Tomorrow we have the privilege and blessing of witnessing two men being ordained as deacons during morning worship. The office of deacon is one of sympathy and service, after the example of the Lord Jesus (Romans 15:8-9); and it also expresses the communion of saints, especially in their helping one another in time of need. Let us pray for our diaconate as they lead our church in the ministry of sympathy and service to those in our congregation, as well as showing mercy to those who have not yet come to faith. Let us pray that through their example and service, we might become more generous through the generosity God has shown us in Christ. And may the Lord be pleased to use our service to bring a great many of people to faith for His glory!
