Advent means “coming” or “arrival” and historically refers to the four Sundays in December leading up to Christmas. During Advent, we focus on the anticipation of the joy to come at Christmas, when our Savior Christ the Lord was born into the world. This year, in our sermon series on the Sundays leading up to Christmas, we are looking at a different Hebrew Prophet from the Old Testament to see what they tell us regarding the Messiah who is to come.
As we look back and reflect on Christ’s first coming, we are reminded of what it meant for God to take on flesh and to dwell among us. He is our Immanuel. But during this season, we also focus on the hope we have in that He will one day come again to right all wrongs.
